Trouble within the NDP?

Seems like some NDP MLAs loyal to Selinger are under unofficial attack from Steven Ashton supporters.
Very similar to what happened in Sask with their NDP - except Dwain Lingenfelter fled to Alberta to scheme from afar and came back after the NDP finally lost power.
But Ashton is still very close to Selinger... we'll see how much solidarity there is in NDPville in the coming months.

  1. BTW I can't believe I have already had 1,000 people view this place (or a 1,000 views anyway) in less than three weeks. I'll keep this up until the election folks - count on it.

  2. There is bad blood between the Selinger and Ashton camps. That is the nature of leadership races. Every party experiences that. Steve is a asset in our party and democracy will have the say at the end of the day. Steve will be our leader one day and he will be a great leader, BUT now is Greg Selinger's time. Steve is next in line.

  3. Thanks for stopping by Orange... I guess we'll see. Plenty of MLAs from both parties are opting not to run - maybe the rank and file are not too excited about either leader...
As for Aston...he's 55... he doesn't have time to wait for his shot... his shot comes if Selinger loses or not at all

  4. I can tell you with all certainty that we will win the next election , and that Greg will retire before the 2015 election. Steve will have his shot then.

  5. Maybe you are both wrong. Maybe it is time for the Red Rod. I think the leadership of the two parties is so polarized and self centered that opportunity exists for some grass roots movement either at the Liberal party or some new Manitoba party. The policy vacuum is large enough to create a balance of power situation and a very short term government.
Ashton may get his chance earlier but it will not be against Hugh. the PCs will either see an internal revolt moving them away from the old guard or alternatively there will be a movement to a new party.
Sound far fetched? Look at Sask and Alberta! Look at Egypt!

  6. The Manitoba Party has been talked about by a few people for years, but nothing has come of it , and never will.It is just a few grumpy tories talking.

  7. "with all certainty"????

    "next in line"????

"will retire before the 2015 election"????

    O.R., you are embarassing yourself.

If you want to embarass yourself, go for it, but please don't pretend you speak for anyone else. Who exactly is this "we" of whom you speak, and who annointed you to speak for "us"?

The more you write, the more I am convinced you are a Tory providing a strawman for Tory bloggers to humiliate.

  8. Orange Rod also picked Judy as a lock, and picked the NDP in the most recent federal byelection as a lock, so I don't put much faith in her predictions :)
And Orange, you really should start allowing more posts you don't agree with on your blog. By mostly allowing pro-NDP posts, you really don't get that great back and forth debate that's great for democracy...

and uncle bob, I think the Liberals are an election away from folding... not much there after Gerrard I'm afraid (too bad really as he's a decent man)

  9. What we need is a new (and even better) incarnation of Sharon Carstairs!
