About LaPo's firing. I would have given him to the end of the year. The guy has a two-year deal. Now you're just paying for him to do nothing.
And this team is not doing well in spite of LaPo, not because of him.
The problems start at the top. Pat Martin's son is a board member. What, he's going to talk union shop biz with the players? What a waste of a spot. Right along with David Asper, who like his sister is only good at spending other people's money.
Mack never brought in any decent players to fill the void left when they lost so many starters from last year. And he loves band aid Buck, who is a trooper but not much else.
And then there's CJOB vet Garth Buchko. He tries to silence the media. He forces the team to start the road for four weeks. He lies about the opening of the stadium.
If anyone should have been fired, it should have been that guy.
The board needs revamping. The GM needs to go. And they need a prez who looks after money, not after football. Cause radio hacks have no biz running a football team.
I started this blog to counter the extreme left wing bias displayed by such bloggers as the Orange Rod. Expect a little more grounded policial talk about Manitoba on this blog.

When is a loan not a loan
When it's given to a museum that's massively over budget, plans to operate deficits when it opens, and will never have the ability to pay it back.
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/opinion/columnists/Loans-ride-to-museums-rescue-163013356.html
All of Canada is paying for this shrine to the Asper family, and we are going to be stuck with a whie elephant - an ugly one at that.
Oh well I guess as long as the wine and cheese socialists have somewhere nice to make us all feel bad about ourselves.
Too bad that money wasn't used to actually help people in need, instead of cater to the rich elites like the Aspers.

Health care monopoly to end soon
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-life/life/health/group-wants-alberta-to-end-health-care-monopoly-and-allow-private-health-insurance-161949295.html
Started in Quebec, the most socialist province in Canada. Now a group from Alberta is challenging laws on limiting health care. It will happen slowly but some day we will have health care as good as Europe has.
It's not right to limit health care. Opening it up will create jobs, prevent Canadians from leaving Canada for health care and lessen pressure on the public system.

Mb fails at health care
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Report-gives-Manitoba-D-grade-for-wait-times-159601045.html
The rationing of health care continues. It's a great system unless you need it
It's especially great if you work for a health authority.
If you need help? Sorry... You've got a long wait ahead.
Or if you can't wait, you can go to another country.
But hey, Canada's free health care is still best, right?
Right?

The losses keep coming for Manitoba
http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Manitobas-retail-sector-failed-to-cash-in-on-warm-weather-153124845.html
Less retail sales. And now we have higher taxes. Interprovincial migration losses are piling up.
The deficit is nowhere near being balanced.
But hey, today's NDP tells us things have never been better.
I'd say we can do something about this in 3.5 years, but it also looks like the NDP want to change the eleciton law again and hold the next election later so as not to have their election near the federal election.
Sigh. Let's just hope Alberta and Saskatchewan can keep paying for the NDP way of life in this have-not province.

Why should Winnipeg settle?
http://www.winnipegsun.com/2012/04/25/brodbeck-water-park
Let's see - new arena is too small, not enough washrooms or seats. Wpg settled.
New football stadium - funded through the back door, no roof, useless in winter. Wpg settled.
New waterpark - smaller than Edmonton. Same size and Grand Forks. Wpg settles?
Not yet. But think bigger people. You want world class, you go big.
The only time Wpg hasn't settled is for that useless museum no one's going to visit unless their teachers order them to.
Good luck getting parents to pay to send their kids to that depressing shrine to the Aspers.

The NDP budget
What a failure that was. I won't go into great detail, but suffice it to say, Manitoba is doomed under this NDP government. They hit us with the largest tax grab in recent memory.
The gas tax is going to hurt us all. It's an attack on the middle class. It's going to make everything cost more. It's now more difficult for rural people to come to Winnipeg for medical appointments.
And it makes crossing over into Saskatchewan all the more appealing. These high taxes are chasing thousands from Manitoba to other provinces, just like Saskatchewan, which is lowering taxes and growing it's population at our expense. This is felt the most in the west part of the province, where shopping and better paying jobs are only minutes away.
Even expanding the PST - that's an attack on women who get their hair done.
The budget is also nowhere close to being balanced, and as wel continue to lose people to other provinces, we're going to continue to struggle to get into the black.
And nevermind Alberta is set to elect the Wildrose government who are tired of footing the bill for the rest of the country. Especially places like Manitoba and Quebec, who feel entitled to their entitlements at their expense.
We're in a lot of trouble, and this government, who cower in fear at the feet of unions, is ill prepared to do anything about it.

NDP is in trouble
They are crying about the federal budget - one that doesn't go deep enough in cuts as far as I'm concerned.
They cry about not getting enough money from Ottawa while living far beyond their means and rewarding their union friends every chance they get.
They are a disaster and we deserve this. We elected these bums yet again.
They have no plan. No way to grow this province. No plans to tap into the vast wealth that sits in the ground because they cower in front of First Nations and enviromentalists, and they don't care what happens 30 miles outside Winnipeg.
The upcoming budget will be a disaster. I expect even more people to flee, and soon even record immigration won't help.
And even if the province conitnues to "grow" it will be the wrong kind of growth. The loss of our youth to other provinces with lower taxes and safer cities. While the poor and old remain, begging for a socialist government to care for them from cradle to grave.
We're doomed.

Charles Adler - Tori's Law
Do you think those who abuse and murder children deserve a lethal injection?
http://www.charlesadler.com/2012/03/petition-for-toris-law.html
Then visit this site.
Charles Adler is saying what a lot of people are saying right now - we need harsher penalties for those who go after our children. We as a society have bent over backwards for the left, soft on crime set.
Let's ramp up the pressure. Let's make sure the sick monsters in our society are put down, not coddled.

Budget coming
And we're going to see just how bad the provincial NDP really are.
We're already getting pounded with property and education taxation hikes. Reassessment continues to make people who actually care for their homes pay more taxes while the inner core pays less. Unemployment is up. Interprovincial migration losses are rising.
And now average teacher at best Stan Struthers will deliver his first budget.
We're in trouble.

When a scandal isn't a scandal
The lefties have been falling all over themselves apologizing for the robo scandal.
Here's my favourite.
Dear Sir,
Re: John Fryer
I am writing, at your request, to state that my comments which have been published recently, were not intended to suggest that Mr. Kouvalis, Mr. Ciano, or Campaign Research provided, discussed or made suggestions to participants regarding any illegal or unethical tactics and apologize for any distress that has been caused to your clients.
Yours truly,
John L. Fryer
If in fact someone in the federal Conservatives is behind this I hope they pay the price. But so far, all I see is people such as Fryer and Pat Martin facing lawsuits. Love it!

NDP moves ahead with UNESCO
Wasting money to protect an area they will run a road through but not a bipole line? Hypocrites. Think of all the oil and coal that will be wasted thanks to the longer, less effecient route they want to give their union buddies more money.
And to top it all off who's ever going to visit this site in the middle of nowhere? No one. Jasper, yes. Manitoba UNESCO area, no.

January... time for a post
Well here we are. It's January. The NDP are laying the groundwork for breaking a lot of their election promises by saying things are in fact worse than they thought. Apparently they only realized right before Christmas (when people could care less) that there was a flood and it affected Manitoba's bottom line.
They didn't apparently know this during the election.
Which is bull.
They lied to us.
Look, Hugh ran a campaign that was socialist drivel. He's lucky he won his seat. But at least he was honest enough to say the books were probably worse than the NDP was letting on.
And now, after they won, so are they.
They were talking floor last January, but were surprised by the costs?
That makes them either bad planners or inept. Which is it?
Ah, that's better... and be sure to keep reading the Black Rod for the real story behind that White Elephant that is the Human Rights Museum. What a joke that's turning out to be.
